Even so, Hooty is shown to be good towards her by giving her a lift to the couch to join the others at the end of "Wing It Like Witches". Willow and Gus become acquainted with Hooty after their very first Moonlight Conjuring that took place at the Owl House, during the events of "Hooty's Moving Hassle". Hooty tries to cheer him up by telling him that the real answer is inside his heart, but he becomes angry and pushes him aside, as he doesn't need to hear that. He wants to know where he came from, what his dad looked like, and what he will look like when he grows up. He has had no response to his video or his wanted posters, and now he is beginning to doubt if his dad is alive and if there is anyone else like him. In frustration, he releases an ultrasonic scream, causing some items to break.

She tells herself to let Raine help her, but past Eda turns into the Owl Beast. Enraged, Eda attacks the Owl Beast, blaming it for ruining her entire life, but she finds herself in her Owl form in an unknown location. She tries to fly away, but her wings burn, and she falls into the sea, where she turns into the scroll Lilith used to curse her. In "Elsewhere and Elsewhen", Hooty hosts a party for Lilith to celebrate her getting a new job. When Eda's father Dell comes over to visit, he comments that he's a very nice man and asks Eda about his scars, causing her to feel even more guilty about attacking him as a teenager, though the two reconcile later. He also helps Luz hold together a badly made portal door in "Reaching Out" as she distracts herself from the anniversary of her father's death.
Early life
After several visits to the Owl House, the two young witches have come to consider him very unnerving and creepy. Despite their dislike of him, Hooty appears to be oblivious of the fact that he is driving Willow and Gus away. Hooty is the titular character of The Owl House, being a house demon attached to the door of the Owl House, he serves as its protector and as the house itself.
Luz is shocked by this, but not as much as Hooty, who once again believes he has messed up. During the epilogue, it appears that Hooty has retired from guarding the Owl House after the Collector installed a new portal door, and instead acts as Lilith's constant companion. As the two work on a new museum wing of the Bonesborough library specialising in Titan research (of which Hooty will be curator), they are met with Hunter, Amity and Willow who reminds them of Luz's belated quinceńera. As such, Lilith uses her harpy form to pick up Raine, Alador and Darius before heading off to the party. At the party, Hooty helps out in emulating Luz's ethnic birthday traditions by hanging the Snaggleback off himself as a "pain-yata", and later bids the Collector (and the audience by extension) farewell in the series's last scene.
The episode begins with Hooty writing a letter to Lilith, telling her about the time he helped Luz, Eda, and King with their problems. In the letter, Lilith expresses concern that Hooty feels unimportant, given how he stays put while Luz, Eda, and King are off on adventures. However, she thinks that as the Owl House itself, Hooty must care for its residents, which is a worthy purpose.

With this settled, the Collector restores most of the Boiling Isles' citizens to normal, and later on in the Owl House, reverts Hooty back to his normal form. Hooty and Lilith share a tearful (if awkward) embrace, and as Luz and her friends rest, Lilith introduces Hooty to Luz's mom Camila. During "Eda's Requiem", Luz reveals she's had to pause portal research after Hooty ate her echo mouse in an effort to protect her, traumatizing it and forcing it to recover for a few days. In the episode "Echoes of the Past", Hooty reveals he can disconnect with the house and ride in a cuckoo clock style backpack to travel to areas not on the Isle itself. Doing this however, he exposes his internal organs causing people to get sick at the sight of it. King's relationship with Hooty has been shown to be the most distant and cold of all his other interactions.
But Hooty, being a state-of-the-art defense system, easily defeated her and the Coven Scouts she brought along, utterly humiliating her. Four years after Belos is defeated, Hooty helps Lilith oversee the construction of the museum wing on the Bonesborough Library. He is also working on the museum together with Lilith and Amity, and will become the curator once it is finished.
While Luz, King, and Eda go and open the blockage at the ceiling, Lilith and Hooty distract the golem with the latter puking out potion bottles at the monster, disturbing everyone. The gang fly to the top where King somehow opens a secret room, where, using his horn fragment, he remembers hatching here and hearing his father call his name. When the golem enters, King commands it to halt and it obliges, revealing that it was created as his caretaker from all intruders. With this settled, King resolves to find his father and decides to take the golem home, which all but Hooty object to.
Eda has been shown to ignore and mistreat Hooty on a regular basis, going so far as to hit the walls of the house whenever he is being uncooperative and poking his eyes whenever he does not open the door immediately. However, Hooty does offer help when needed and has been shown to be useful when needed. She was even shown to confide in him on occasion when she is feeling troubled or disappointed. King suggests having the Collector turn Hooty back to normal, but both Eda and Lilith reject the idea as it is too much of a risk. Fortunately, the trio manage to redeem the Collector in "Watching and Dreaming" and defeat Belos as he possesses the Titan's heart in an attempt to complete his crusade.
But unlike Eda's more physical intimidation, King is more verbally and emotionally abusive, merely calling him out on his behavior rather than attacking him in some form. Their relationship gets better during the events of "Adventures in the Elements", wherein King is forced to befriend Hooty in hopes of destroying his animated plush toy soldiers. Much like Eda and King, Hooty also has a cheeky and mischievous streak to his personality, occasionally being amused by seeing people getting hurt or poking fun at other people's bad luck.
This ends up hurting Amity, who proposes that the idea of them dating was stupid all along. Hooty has a wooden light beige owl face with a darker orange upper side, brown eyes, and an orange beak. Behind the door where he is placed, there is a back frame of his owl body with wings and two peepholes attached where his eyes normally are. While Hooty has been described as a house demon, his specific type was revealed to be a bug demon. As a bug demon, owing to his extensive brown "neck", Hooty can stretch and move around in a worm-like fashion, and extend his mouth to allow visitors entry to the house or swallow items for storage.
At the end of the boat ride both girls step out embarrassed and more romantically distant. When he removes himself from the Owl House, Hooty inhabits a small white wooden birdhouse with a red roof, a heart above where his head goes and red details, as well as brown straps. After being puppetised by the Collector, Hooty's eyes are now completely white and he becomes a jack-in-the-box like puppet.
In a previous letter he wrote, he mentioned that he feels unimportant while Luz, King and Eda are out on adventures. Lilith replies by saying that he is The Owl House itself and he takes care of everyone in it, which is a worthy purpose. Lilith's words inspire Hooty and he ends up trying to help King, Eda and Luz solve their problems. While Lilith was still the coven leader at the Emperor's Coven, she attempted to arrest Eda at her house.
Eda tells herself that this wasn't her fault and attacks the Owl Beast, only to find herself with Raine as a young adult. They voice their concern that Eda keeps lying to them about things being okay and tells her they've decided to join the Bard Coven. Raine asks Eda if they can help, which current Eda tells her to let them do, but she refuses, telling Raine to leave, which they do due to being tired of dealing with this.
